Meghan Markle, the former American TV star and now the Duchess of Sussex, has earned a new title. The Urban Dictionary has recently entered her name in its online database to refer to a new term for "ghosting."
To use "Meghan Markle" in a sentence is to indicate the act of disposing a person from someone's life without regard for the relationship or consideration for their feelings. The popular modern dictionary enumerated a few examples where the term Meghan Markle may be applicable.
"She did a Meghan Markle on her friends as soon as she became famous," cited one example in the Urban Dictionary. "Girl, she's engaged to a Russian billionaire now. She Meghan Markled her way to the top!" another example stated.
According to Pop Culture, the origin of the term Meghan Markle might have come from the Duchess' 74-year-old father, Thomas Markle. He has been publicly stating that his famous daughter abandoned her own family when she became a royal.
Thomas also said that he tried to reach out to Meghan before by sending or letters and daily texts. However, Meghan has not reportedly responded to his messages. The former actress' older half-sister, Samantha, has also accused Markle of shunning her family since she started dating Prince Harry in 2016.
Former close friends of the Duchess have also come out to say that they have been ghosted by Meghan. Her childhood friend Ninaki Priddy had a falling out with the celebrity even before she became a royal because Priddy apparently did not like how Meghan ended her first marriage.
Another childhood pal, Millie Mackintosh, was also apparently Meghan Markled. She was speculated to be part of the royal wedding entourage but, as it turned out, Mackintosh was not even invited to the affair.
Even TV personality Piers Morgan claimed that the actress ghosted him. The two have been friends while she was still part of the TV series Suits, but he was also not asked to be at the wedding.
"You should always at least have the basic good manners to tell someone why they are no longer of any use to you as you crawl ruthlessly up the social ladder," Morgan said, as per the Daily Mail.
Entries to Urban Dictionary are publicly contributed and edited. Defenders of the royal celebrity said that since anyone can have access to the entries, the definition has no actual bearing.
