The long wait is almost over! Animation studio J.C Staff has finally announced a release date for their movie adaptation of Natsume Akatsuki's Japanese light novel series, KonoSuba.

The movie adaptation, officially titled KonoSuba: God's Blessing on this Wonderful World! Crimson Legend (Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo! Kurenai Densetsu), will be hitting the silver screen on Aug. 30. It will be directed by Takaomi Kanasaki, whose credits include 2013's Lupin Sansei: Princess of the Breeze - Kakusareta Kuuchuu Toshi and 2013-2014's Tokyo Ravens.

It was also announced that Japanese singer and voice actress Machico, who performed the opening themes for both seasons of the anime series counterpart, is on board to perform the movie adaptation's theme song.

As for the cast members, Japanese voice actors Jun Fukushima will play Kazuma Sato, Sora Amamiya as Aqua, Rie Takahashi as Megumin and Ai Kayano as Darkness, Aki Toyosaki as Yunyun, Yui Horie as Wiz, Takuya Eguchi as Kyoya Mitsurugi, Junji Majima as Dust, and Ayaka Suwa as Eris and Chris.

While in-depth details of the movie adaptation's plot remain scarce, the original light novel series follows an ordinary teenager, Kazuma Sato, who is obsessed with video games. While returning home from buying a video game, he attempts to save a classmate from being hit by a slow-moving tractor he mistakes for a speeding truck, and dies from acute stress reaction.

Kazuma Sato, then, meets a goddess named Aqua who offers to reincarnate him in a parallel world with massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) elements. In the said world, he can go on different adventures and battle thousands of monsters.

"After a traffic accident, Kazuma Sato's disappointingly brief life was supposed to be over, but he wakes up to see a beautiful girl before him," the official synopsis for the anime series counterpart reads (via Comic Book Anime). "She claims to be a goddess, Aqua, and asks if he would like to go to another world and bring only one thing with him. Kazuma decides to bring the goddess herself, and they are transported to a fantasy world filled with adventure, ruled by a demon king. Now Kazuma only wants to live in peace, but Aqua wants to solve many of this world's problems, and the demon king will only turn a blind eye for so long..."
