Earlier this week, the 2019 Billboard Music Awards was held in Las Vegas. But while this event is supposed to be a moment of celebration for every artist, the event has sparked a "copying controversy" between Taylor Swift and Beyoncé.

As you may know, Taylor Swift has just released her latest single titled, ME!, on April 26. With its massive success, it is in no doubt why the Look What You Made Me Do singer has been chosen to perform her latest track during the event.

Similar to the aesthetics of the music video, Taylor filled the stage with the same vibe and look - with tones of pastel pink, blue, and yellow. But as she performs her new album's leadoff single, ME!, with a drumline and dressed like a majorette, the audience noticed that the whole production was somewhat similar to Beyoncé's iconic Coachella performance back in 2018

During and after the whole performance, Taylor Swift received a backlash on Twitter from many people all over the globe, especially from the die-hard Beyoncé fans. This Twitter commotion resulted in #Mayochella to go on trending which fully criticizes Taylor's performance of ME! explaining how she copied Beyoncé's iconic performance.

Even so, many have still defended Taylor Swift. As it happens, Beyoncé was not the first artist to do a full marching band during a performance.

According to CNN Entertainment, several artists have also utilized the same production style and appearance in the past years. And some of them includes Prince from his 2007 Super Bowl Halftime show, Gwen Stefani's opening performance during the 2005 Teen Choice Awards, and Madonna from her 2012 MDNA tour.

Aside from these artists, many Taylor Swift fans have also emphasized that this is not the first time that Taylor performed with a full marching band. And it has been widely publicized that Taylor did a similar performance back in 2009 during her Fearless tour. Not to mention that the music video of You Belong With Me has a marching band too.

So, there is a huge chance that Taylor Swift did not copy Beyoncé's performance at all. But if she did, maybe, she was inspired by Queen Bey. Nevertheless, Taylor Swift has not been heard to address the issue.

Meanwhile, ME! continues to make and break several records in the music and video industry. And it is pretty much expected for her latest single to rise more above the others in the succeeding weeks.
