Big Bang Theory will officially come to an end this month. So to give the nod to its origin story, Young Sheldon Season 2 Finale will feature a major crossover that fans will surely love.
Young Sheldon Season 2 Finale will feature the young Big Bang Theory characters. According to TV Guide, viewers will get to see the kid versions of Leonard, Penny, Howard, Raj, Amy, and Bernadette before they become the geek squad fans have loved for the past 12 years.
It is not the first time the two series will feature a major crossover. In Big Bang Theory Season 12 Episode 10, titled "The VCR Illumination," Sheldon (Jim Parsons) watched his young self in an old VHS tape when he felt down after a theory gone wrong. The young Sheldon (Iain Armitage) was filmed giving a "nice pep talk" to boost his mood at the time.
TV Line reported a CBS rep confirmed the appearance of the young Big Bang Theory characters in Young Sheldon Season 2 Finale. It is said to be a tribute to its parent show as it is about to end after 12 seasons. Also, it is reportedly part of the spinoff series' storyline.
However, it is not yet revealed how these young Big Bang Theory stars would be featured in Young Sheldon Season 2 Finale. It is believed Sheldon only met Leonard, Penny, Howard, Raj, Amy, and Bernadette when he is already an adult, so it remains to be unknown how they would be part of his "Texas orbit." Also, it remains to be seen who will play their young roles.
Big Bang Theory Season Finale will give the nod to a number of its "long-running storyline" and feature a surprising cameo. But after Young Sheldon, it is still a mystery if it will feature another spinoff series.
"Unless there was a creative reason to do it - a wonderfully, wonderfully creative reason to do it - than the only reason [to do it] is economics, and that's not good enough," series creator Chuck Lorre said. "This is hard work. And if you're going to do it, you gotta love what you're doing; you've gotta be passionate about it. And if you're just chasing money, that's not enough."
The Big Bang Theory Finale will be out on Thursday, May 16, at 8/7c on CBS. It will be then followed by Young Sheldon Season 2 Finale at 9/8c. The show can be streamed on CBS All Access.
