Melania Trump was once paid a dear compliment by her husband, the United States President Donald Trump, who declared that their relationship was not equal.
In a throwback to an interview the first couple did with ABC News, during the time of then-business-mogul's campaign for the United States presidency, Donald admitted that he did not consider their relationship equal.
Way back in 2015, when the couple were simply Melania Knauss-Trump and Donald Trump, they appeared to the public as being more open to personal questions. In an interview during that time, Donald was asked whether he viewed their marriage as one "of equals."
His reply had been, "I would say no."
But he did not stop there. He went on to add that he believed Melania is "far greater," representing more than the "50 percent" in the relationship.
Then Donald had gone on more seriously to say, that "no" their relationship was "very pretty much" an "equal" one.
The interviewer that time, broadcast journalist and television personality Barbara Walters, had then asked Melania whether she had any concerns about her husband Donald having been married twice prior to their own marriage.
Melania had replied directly that she did not believe she had cause for "any concerns." She admitted that she and Donald "have a great chemistry."
She had gone on to explain that being "with a man" and him being "my husband," it was essential that she needed to "know" who she was. Melania also emphasized that it was important to have an "independent life" and to support her husband.
Another thing that Melania felt was crucial was "to be very smart" as well as "quick." It was also necessary to "be there" when her man needed her.
Since that time, things seem to have somewhat changed between the couple, the two having been observed to become more reticent about revealing details of their relationship. They each have grown more concerned about politics and stick more to the problems and responsibilities of their offices.
In an interview the previous year, the First Lady had spoken to the media, saying she knew that "people" as well as the "media" were wont to "speculate" about her marriage to the president and even "gossip" monger.
Melania elaborated that she got the part on "gossip" being the fuel for newspaper and magazine sales and that it was unfortunate that "we live" in a type of "world today" that perpetuates this. But, she pointed out, there were "more important" matters for her to "think about" than to attend to queries about her relationship with the POTUS.
More recent interest on the life that the First Lady is leading today has also been reported. The documentary filmmaker Louis Theroux has expressed an interest in creating a documentary of Melania's life, saying that she would be his choice pick to profile.
He said he wanted to film Melania in what he sees she "inhabits" a "gilded cage." Theroux is considering finding out whether she knew what it was she signed on for, speaking of her marriage.
