Supposedly in his mind, success awaits in the Big Apple and NBA titles are for the taking with the possibility of playing tag with Durant.
This appears to be a done deal, according to NBC Sport. Pointing to Stephen Smith as source of its intel, the report said Durant changing colors for next season and suiting up with the Knicks is 95 percent sure. The supposed deal between KD and the Knicks management will only fall apart if the former changes his mind the last minute.
However, Colin Cowherd of FOX Sports added a credible voice to the narrative. He affirmed that Durant is headed to New York and shared the decision to close friends. Cowherd said the inside info was sourced from an NBA veteran, whose identity he declined to divulge.
Now KD and Irving campaigning for the New York Knicks is not far-fetched. Both players will join the free agent ranks soon and they will certainly use the occasion to carve a solid standing at the NBA. For the two superstars, writing history with the storied Knicks is a tempting proposition given that with their current respective teams, they don't necessarily hog the limelight.
With the Knicks, Durant and Irving are likely to relish limitless possibilities. And specifically for KD, he will be the god-like boss in New York, calling the shots like LeBron James does whenever he plays for any NBA club. Without doubt, the GSW hotshot would love to wield such power, which is something he wouldn't get while sharing the court with Stephen Curry.
Yet all things considered, Kevin Durant counting championship trophies with the Knicks is not written in stone. That's because "nothing is 100 percent done in the NBA," Bleacher Report reminded.
For no reason at all, KD could arrive at the realization that his future stands on rock-solid grounds with the Warriors compared with the Knicks. The latter, in recent times, have been plagued by leadership issues that may douse cold water on Durant's rising excitement.
