Dallas Mavericks has high hopes as they enter the free agency period, aiming to bolster their struggling roster. Kemba Walker is one of the players the team is eyeing for, though it is unclear to date whether he is open to even leaving Charlotte.

29-year-old Walker, who started out as the 9th draft pick by Charlotte back in 2011, has been the go-to guy of the team, and has reached All-Star status since 2017. Despite the team missing the playoffs this season, the three-time All Star ended with 25.6 point and 5.9 assists.

The Hornets could decide to keep Walker for a $221 million, 5-year contract, securing their top player on the roster. However, according to New York Post, it is questionable if the price is right for an eight-year player without a championship ring.

On the other hand, Dallas needs a significant upgrade after their dismal finish this season. Ending with 33-49, the second worst record for the season, the Mavs have the salary cap space to get Walker on their roster. This addition, along with the return their big guns Luca Doncic and potential free agentKristapsPorzingis, could give the 2011 champs a better run in the upcoming season.

Despite the possibilities, however, as The Smoking Cuban points out, Walker's limited playoffs experience could be a big risk come playoffs. Also, while most players desire to get a championship ring, the addition of Walker to the Mavs' roster may still not guarantee a strong finish for the team.

Another player on the team's sights is Khris Middleton of the Milwaukee Bucks. The 27-year-old shooter ended the season with 15.7 points and a 38.8% shooting from the three-point line. In 2019, the seven-year player entered the All-Star lineup for the first time.        

Walker is only one of the top names that will be part of the free agent period come July. Among the big names include Warriors' Kevin Durant, Kawhi Leonard of the Raptors, and Kyrie Irving from the Celtics.

Durant is bound to take offers from both the Lakers, where he could team up with LeBron James, or from the Knicks, which could offer a bigger payday for the 30-year-old superstar. Though the Warriors can still counter-offer to keep him on the team. Leonard may possibly move to the Nets, along with Kyrie Irving and Tobias Harris. However he could still extend with the Raptors come summer.
