Those who have not watched the latest episode of the Game of Thrones will do well not to read further. At the close of Sunday's Game of Thrones season 8 episode 5 airing, HBO offered a brief preview of the next and final episode for the end season of the show.
In the trailer for the Game of Thrones season 8 episode 6, amid fire and ash falling everywhere, Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) appears, walking among the ruins of King's Landing. Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) is seen near a crowd made up of soldiers who were circled something. Dothraki can also be spied with their curved blades raised high, and they appear to be cheering.
Daenerys Targaryen (played by Emilia Clarke) inspects the remains of her empire, and her eyes run over her Unsullied people who stood in front of her, cheering.
It was expected that the characters who were left in the North would not make an appearance in the trailer episode. However, since the next helping of Game of Thrones will be the last one, it is hoped that Bran (Isaac Hempstead) and Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) would be sighted.
As for Jon Snow, his end is expected to be devastating, if Kit Harington's (who plays the part) emotional display over how the story goes for the character he has lived and breathed for years is any indication. The 32-year-old actor expressed his "shock" and "surprise" over "certain events" that evolves in the end.
Harington admitted he "blubbed" his "eyes out" and "cried" when he read the final script of the show he starred in, the Game of Thrones. This he confessed to Tuesday while on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
Since he had a lazy habit of leaving out for last reading the whole script, he had been the last one to find out, among everyone on the show. He pointed out that all of the members of the cast had already gone through the script, but that it was not only because he did not want to learn the ending. He was just downright lazy about it; that is why he was the only one who did not know what his character meets in the end.
He described how the show's creators David Benioff and Daniel Brett "D. B." Weiss had used his reactions to gauge how the final events would go down and witnessed some "pretty good reactions," which were caught on tape.
The actor also shared how his wife, Rose Leslie (who played Ygritte) had bugged him to reveal what happens to Snow in the end, but even though she had guessed all the possibilities on the show before, she still did not find out what happens when the last episode plays.
Harington had shared with GQ in January that the cast had felt "broken" with the ending, as filming the six episodes in just ten months had been explosive.
With Game of Thrones season 8 episode 6 being the final one on the show, the series' forerunners Benioff and Weiss came up with The Last Watch. It is a film that looks into the deeper side of the series' creation during the last season. It will air on HBO on May 26.
Since the show's creators are known for holding back many details and secrets, the Game of Thrones: The Last Watch is expected to reveal all the tiny details which were kept from everyone while filming. Its trailer shows the actors sitting at a long table, doing the final reading of the script.
Then Harington begins to cry, but then his co-actor, Turner (Sansa), starts breaking up with laughter at that. Weiss makes a speech, saying that, in the long time that the series has run, a look around the table felt like "seeing" one's "family."
This being said, it does not prepare everyone avidly following the show for what will happen in the end. Game of Thrones season 8 episode 6 will air on HBO May 19.
