One of the most notable characters in FBI season 1 will not be included in the second installment when it arrives. It was confirmed that Sela Ward, who plays the role of Special Agent in Charge Dana Mosier, will not be in the series after the season 1 finale, thus viewers will see her character in FBI season 2.
Ward shared a photo on Instagram, confirming that the final episode of the first season will be the last for her character. This news surprised a lot of viewers since it's too soon for FBI to lose one of its core characters. However, a report from Deadline revealed the actress only ha a one-year deal in doing the series.

Perhaps, the plan here was to include Ward in season 1 to help boost the series' credibility during its early going. Now that the show proved its performance, it's time to move forward and goes on a different direction in FBI season 2. At the end of the first season, viewers saw the character submitted her resignation.
Now that Ward will not be included in FBI season 2 as a series regular, many speculated there would be some twists and turns. While some believe the character might find her way back in the show, it seems like the Ward is saying goodbye to the series permanently.
In addition, a character leaving the show isn't really new when it comes to the series creator Dick Wolf, just like what he did in the Law & Order and One Chicago franchises. Some of the characters in these shows often leave, and they leave because they think that's what good for them.
While there are characters that stay, others choose to move forward and try new jobs. In fact, not every character in these series make it until the end, they go on a new journey because that's how it should be. Meanwhile, FBI is actually is generating some great viewership, which is a good indication in continuing a show.
And even though Ward exits the show, there's still good news for fans, as CBS confirmed FBI season 2 will be arriving this fall. Right now, the storyline of the second installment wasn't yet revealed, but the first thing we need to consider here is how far the characters can go when the new installment comes out. Also, the show has a spin-off FBI: Most Wanted and it will reportedly be released during the 2019-20 season.
