WARNING: This article contains spoilers for Black Mirror season 5. Read at your own risk.

The previous season of Black Mirror aired in 2017, and fans have been waiting for the arrival of the fifth installment since then. Netflix, however, released the interactive feature-length hit Bandersnatch in 2018 and became a hit as well, just like the series. Now, the good news is that the streaming giant announced the official release date of Black Mirror season 5, along with other details.

Black Mirror season 5 will be arriving on Wednesday, June 5, 2019, and Netflix confirmed that all of the three episodes of the new installment will drop at once on that same day. The titles of the three episodes are: "Smithereens," "Rachel, Jack, and Ashley Too," and "Striking Vipers."

The first episode will feature Sherlock star Andrew Scott, and it follows a derailed taxi driver wherein his actions land himself at the center of the national news for the day. The third episode will feature Anthony Mackie's character who reunited with a former high-school contact and rekindled their relationship, but it could also change their lives forever.

Meanwhile, the second episode features Miley Cyrus, who played the role of Ashley O. It follows the story of a lonely teenager who is desperate to connect with her favorite pop star (Cyrus). Speaking at Radio 1 Big Weekend, the "Wrecking Ball" singer teases that the episode would be "outrageously dark" and it is quite similar to her own story in the music industry.

But despite the similarities, Cyrus explained that the episode's plot isn't based on her personal story. She said that her family kept her still loving her music, but the family of her character, Ashley, isn't supportive and this could explain why her episode would have "dark twists and turns."

Before the show creators Charlie Brooker and Annabel Jones approached her, Cyrus said she's already a fan of the series, so they didn't have to persuade her to jump on board.

Meanwhile, Black Mirror season 5 is smaller compared to the previous seasons. In an interview with Digital Spy, Brooker explained that Bandersnatch is the reason why the fifth installment has a shorter run and said it was originally part of the upcoming season.

He noted that "Striking Vipers" was shot before they began filming Bandersnatch, but "Smithereens" was a little bit overlapped with the latter. Eventually, Brooker said Bandersnatch was "equivalent of doing a whole season in itself."
