The renewal of Lucifer season 5 is still up in the air as Netflix has yet to confirm the fate of the series. Executive producers Joe Henderson and IIdy Modrovich, however, revealed that they have been planning the upcoming season and the first episode of Lucifer season 5 should be all kinds of "awesome."

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Henderson revealed that they have been discussing ideas for Lucifer season 5. He hinted that they have something unexpected but brilliant in mind.

"We have a lot of exciting ways, and one way, in particular, to do it that launches an awesome, awesome season five," the producer teased. "It's an idea that when it came up in the room, we went, "Oh god, that's crazy." Then the more we talked about it, the more we went, "and brilliant."'

Netflix dropped all 10 episodes of Lucifer season 4 last Wednesday, May 8. Within three weeks, the series has received astounding support from the fans who binged on the series in a matter of hours.

A throve of fans on social media have said that they have quickly finished watching the entire Lucifer season 4 on the streaming platform. The producers told TV Line that they feel proud of what they have accomplished and they are still processing this amazing support.

"It's been so gratifying that people seem to love it," Henderson said.

Meanwhile, there are speculations that Lucifer season 5 would likely have a time jump. The producers, however, kept their silence about this potential shift in the timeline.

The devil decided to return to Hell towards the end of Lucifer season 4. The show closed with a shot of Tom Ellis (as Lucifer Morningstar/Morgenstern) sitting on his throne in Hell.

Viewers have been aware that a week on Earth translates to a year or so in Hell. Thus, fans might not be wrong to assume that Lucifer season 5 will open with a significant time difference.

As for the renewal chances, the producers said that they expect Netflix to announce about Lucifer season 5 by June 8, or a month after the release of season 4. Ellis said that he feels the show still has more stories to explore so, like the fans, he's also hopeful for a fifth season.

All seasons of Lucifer are currently streaming on Netflix. Aside from Ellis, the show also stars Lauren German, Lesley-Ann Brandt, DB Woodside, Kevin Alejandro, and Rachael Harris.
