Killing Eve season 3 is in the middle of its planning stages, and actress Sandra Oh is still bound to reprise her role as Eve Polastri. First, however, the writers have to figure out how she can return given the shocking ending in the second season finale, which aired last Sunday, May 26, on BBC America.

Oh's character was left bleeding on the floor in the Killing Eve season 2 finale after Villanelle (played by Jodie Comer) fired at her. Executive Producer Sally Woodward Gentle confirmed to Deadline that they had planned on this from the get-go. The producer also confirmed that they have a sketchy map of Killing Eve season 3 and the writers will likely add new characters to the mix.

Oh, on the other hand, confirmed that she's still part of the third season in a conversation with Entertainment Weekly.  The actress, however, admitted that it would be tricky to plan out how her character survived that attack when Killing Eve season 3 returns. While they have not yet started filming the new season, Oh said that she has some ideas up her sleeve.

As suggested by Refinery29, Eve might have been faking her death in the Killing Eve season 2 finale. This was foreshadowed in an earlier scene, where Hugo (played by Edward Bluemel) told Eve that playing dead was a hero's technique.

The scenes between Hugo's fake death and Eve's final shot have several similarities. Thus, Eve might have taken her colleague's advice to fool Villanelle into believing she succeeded in killing her.

However, Oh nixed the idea that her character tried to play dead to save her life in the Killing Eve season 2 finale. The actress resisted commenting further because it might give away some plot points for the third season.

BBC America renewed Killing Eve for season 3 last April, as per Variety. There will be a new showrunner on board after Emerald Fennel and Phoebe Waller-Bridge departed the series.

"As we did last year, we're renewing Killing Eve right out of the gate, now with Suzanne Heathcote as lead writer, as a sign of confidence - we adore this show as much as our fans do," the network stated in a press release. The show is based on a series of novellas from author Luke Jennings, titled "Codename Villanelle."
