The Audi E-Tron GT patent images registered in China's industrial protection service has recently been leaked in an e-Tron forum showing the stylish exterior that the car would have. While the images show the supposed E-Tron GT on the Chinese market, it is expected that the car that will be marketed in the US would be in the same form.
The Audi E-Tron GT is one of Audi's most anticipated cars for this year as it will be a direct competitor to Tesla Model S. To compete with the Model S, it has been confirmed to go into production with a more attractive and aggressive design than the A7 Sportback and will be inheriting the architecture and technology of its sophisticated "cousin", the Porsche Taycan.
From what can be seen, the Audi e-Tron GT will be very faithful to the prototype concept presented in the past Los Angeles Auto Show and had already been teased by Audi in many marketing platforms including the Avengers: End Game movie.
The electric fastback of the German luxury brand bets on a slim profile for a more fluid impression, having low front cab-forward design indicative of no internal combustion engine It will probably be equipped with Matrix LED headlights, stylized fake grille, and bumper with large air intakes. The side features high arches that can accommodate large wheels.
What’s interesting is that the leaked images show two charging ports, one on each front fender. It is yet to be known why the Audi E-Tron GT has two, but it can be a way to support E-Tron's powerful 800-volt system which can achieve 80% charge in just 20 minutes, a feature Audi claims to be the first in the market to have.
In capabilities, the Audi E-Tron GT can put Tesla Model S to shame because, while the E-Tron Quattro and E-Tron Quattro Sportback have been designed on the MLB Evo platform of the Q7 adapted for these electrics, in the case of the E-Tron GT, the J1 platform of Porsche has been used which allows the car to reach a maximum autonomy of 250 miles, where Model S only averages at 215 miles.
And while the Tesla Model S can output an already powerful 500hp, the Audi E-Tron will hit the market with a total maximum power of 590 HP and torque capable of accelerating in only 3.5 seconds in 100 km / h.
On the road, Audi will rely on Electrify America's network of charging stations. Electrify America can charge 150 kilowatts, compared to 120 kW for Tesla's Supercharger stations. In all charging stations, the charging speed is considerably fast and then reduced after the battery level reaches 80 percent, due to limitations in the way electricity flows.
