With only a month to go before the official NBA trades opens, The Los Angeles Lakers will try to go again for Anthony Davis and lay everything they have on the table this time. According to NBA trade rumors, the Lakers are willing to trade anybody - except for superstar Lebron James and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, in order to get the Pelican star.
It is no secret to anyone that there is a huge interest between the Los Angeles Lakers and Anthony Davis, who wants to be exchanged outside the New Orleans Pelicans and join forces with LeBron James. Throughout the last campaign, the Los Angeles team tried to take over the services of the power forward, but the former general manager of the Pelicans refused to negotiate with the Lakers in revenge for his alleged influence on Davis's desire to leave.
Now, according to NBA trade rumors, the Lakers 100 percent want to commit themselves again and will talk to the Pelicans and Anthony Davis to get him to the team by any chance. Even if this means trading anybody but Lebron and KCP. This statement comes from LA Lakers guard Josh Hart but also, it is expected and had reportedly been said by Magic Johnson as well.
Last February, the Lakers attempt to get Davis and NBA trade rumors and leaks indicated that Magic Johnson was willing to exchange almost all the young Lakers in exchange for the All-Star Davis. This involved Brandon Ingram, Kyle Kuzma, Lonzo Ball, Ivica Zubac and Hart himself.
This ultimately did not happen but had a tremendous impact in Los Angeles as the distrust of the staff increased, and the morale of the players was very much affected.
Amongst all names that are mentioned in the trading block, Lonzo Ball could be the key for Anthony Davis to finish in the Lakers. This was pointed out by several American media. For now, they are only NBA trade rumors, but it seems certain that the Bulls have an interest in Lonzo. KC Johnson of the Chicago Tribune reported that Ball "intrigues" the legendary franchise and that his passing ability and good defensive skills would fit very well with the youth core of the play, which includes talented players as well
Last NBA trade, the refusal of the father of Lonzo Ball, for his son to fall to the Pelicans hinder negotiations. And although he did not rule out other destinations, he just said he refused to come to New Orleans. After this, David Griffin, the team's executive vice president of operations, said he did not want to acquire players who did not want to play for them.
So the option of Lonzo finally falling to the Bulls could open new doors for both the Ball family and the Lakers. The position of Lonzo and his father seems to have changed, and although the option to go to the Pelicans is far, the possibility of ending up playing in Chicago is not totally ruled out for them.
This scenario gives a new option to the Lakers. If the trade finally came to fruition, the Lakers would have (at least and in theory) a seventh round of the next Draft and the number 4 pick, so they could offer those two rounds and some other player to try for Davis again.
It will not be easy. The Pelicans are not happy with how the Lakers handled the negotiations last time, and the owner of the franchise has already said that her star will go to Hollywood over her "corpse." We will see on June 30 if this NBA trade rumor will come to place.
