Joseph David-Jones is not going anywhere on Arrow season 8. He's sticking around in the entire final season as the network has promoted him to a series regular role.
According to Deadline, David-Jones first played the Green Arrow in an episode of Legends of Tomorrow in 2016. In early 2019, the actor reprised his role in Arrow season 7 and was also introduced as the adopted son of John Diggle (played by David Ramsey) named Connor Hawke.
Connor as Green Arrow appeared in an alternate timeline in Arrow season 7. However, his biological father is Ben Turner/Bronze Tiger (played by Michael Jai White), as per TV Line.
It is presumed that Arrow season 8 will explain how Connor became Diggle's son. The show will also likely tell the story of the friction between Connor and his alternate identity in the future. As Connor, he would become Knightwatch agent in a different timeline, but as John Jr, his fate would up with the Deathstroke gang.
Meanwhile, Arrow season 8 is expected to premiere this Fall on The CW with a shorter run of 10 episodes. The show will be moving to Tuesday nights when it returns, however, the network has not yet announced the premiere date for Arrow season 8. Speculations are that this will happen during the first week of October.
Arrow season 8 will also tackle the effects of the crossover event "Crisis on Infinite Earth" that will shake up the life of Oliver Queen (played by Stephen Amell). Rumors suggest, however, that this will not be a good ending for Green Arrow as he could die by the end of Arrow season 8.
The CW renewed Arrow for an eighth and final season in March. Producer Greg Berlanti said in a statement that ending the series was a hard choice to make, but the show will be leaving the television on a high note.
"We're heartened by the fact that 'Arrow' has birthed an entire universe of shows that will continue on for many years to come," Berlanti said, per Variety. "We're excited about crafting a conclusion that honors the show, its characters and its legacy, and are grateful to all the writers, producers, actors, and - more importantly - the incredible crew that has sustained us and the show for over seven years."
