Deaths on the Netflix drama series Stranger Things are inevitable, and rumors have it that there would be one death in the upcoming third season. Another potential death, on the other hand, has been hinted as Stranger Things season 3 prepares to launch on the streaming platform.
Actor Noah Schnapp (as Will Byers) confirmed in an interview that the Bryers had lost their beloved family dog, per Winter Is Coming. Though Chester the pet wasn't seen in the second season, Schnapp revealed that his grave would be shown in Stranger Things season 3.
Schnapp also said the Stranger Things season 3 would have a different tone compared to the previous seasons. The new story takes place in the summertime, as opposed to the previous season's fall timeline, so there will get plenty of expositions per characters in their lightest moments.
But there could be possibly one more death on Stranger Things season 3 that its fans should prepare for. David Harbour (as Chief Hopper) once again hinted on the fate of his character, who will likely sacrifice his life for his ward Eleven (played by Millie Bobby Brown).
Hopper's backstory has been explored in the newly-released comic book "Stranger Things: Darkness on the Edge of Town" from Adam Christopher. This story supposedly takes place between Stranger Things season 2 and season 3 but with a sole focus on Hopper's past, which explains his daughter's death.
The details in this comic book will tie to the TV show. Fans speculate that because this was so emphasized, then it could be a foreshadowing of what will happen to Hopper in Stranger Things season 3.
Harbour did not explicitly say that his character will die this season, but he teased that the finale episode of Stranger Things season 3 was the "most moving thing we've ever shot." The actor also hinted and described that there would be plenty of unexpected developments in the ending, per Daily Express.
Meanwhile, new cast addition Cary Elwes also teased that Stranger Things season 3 will be "bigger and more powerful" than the first two seasons. Speaking with Variety, the actor said that he's gotten a lot more excited for the upcoming installment as a fan of the show.
Netflix will release eight full-hour episodes of Stranger Things season 3 on Friday, July 4. The first two seasons, on the other hand, are still streaming on the platform.
