It's been a while since we hear new details about the iPhone XR 2 or the next device Apple will release after the iPhone XR. (In this article, we will refer to the device as iPhone XR 2 for clarity sake.) However, leaked info surfaced on the Internet revealing several details on the potential design and battery of the upcoming device. The latest information came from The Elec, which reported that Ameperx Technology Limited, Apple's partner in China, has begun mass producing the batteries of the iPhone XR 2.
The leaked info could mean that the upcoming device could house the biggest ever single cell (battery) unit among all iPhone models. Although the iPhone XS Max is the bulkiest iPhone the Cupertino-based tech titan has developed in terms of screen size, it still houses a couple of batteries with a total capacity of 3171 mAh. The iPhone XR, on the other hand, has a 2942 mAh battery pack. This makes the device the biggest single-celled capacity in all iPhone and Apple devices.
According to the latest info, the iPhone XR 2 will have a slightly bigger capacity. This means that it will be the first iPhone model to house the largest-ever battery. That is if we are considering the models based on single cell bars. In case you did not know, the iPhone XS Max and the iPhone XS feature two batteries integrated into an L-shaped unit.
These models are much tougher to mass produce and their shape is expected to be maintained for the next models. The Cupertino-based tech giant designed the iPhone X to be the first-ever model to have a conjoined battery. This was followed by the much expensive OLED models launched in September last year. The I-shaped battery models are much safer and less complicated to manufacture and will be housed by the less expensive iPhone XR 2 model.
Apple boasts that the iPhone XR allows users to enjoy 25 hours talk time. That means if you combine it with a bigger battery along with an efficient A13 SoC, the iPhone XR 2 will offer more talk time and screen-on time. Tech experts are anticipating that the Cupertino-based tech titan will bank one of the iPhone XR 2 marketing campaigns on its battery efficiency. But, this is just a leak and the best way to treat any leak is to accept it with a grain of salt.
