During the E3 Next Horizon event, AMD launched its flagship processor, which is the AMD Ryzen 9 3950X. The 16 cores processor is already making big waves and breaking barriers before it is even released. The much-anticipated flagship processor releasing to the AM4 socket provides HEDT performance on the conventional consumer platform.
The AMD Ryzen 9 3950X features 7nm Zen 2 based architecture with three Chiplets on the Ryzen 9 interposer. This includes a couple of Zen 2 dies and one I/O die based on a 14nm process node. The upcoming flagship processor is enabled and provides 16 cores and 32 threads.
So far, the AMD Ryzen 9 3950X core configuration, is the first-ever core configuration on mainstream platforms. Actually, even the 12 core 24 thread AMD Ryzen 9 3950X configuration has not been seen in the conventional platforms. The Austin-based semi-con company is the first to introduce and deliver such impressive HEDT exclusive core counts to the mainstream users.
The AMD Ryzen 9 3950X has a base clock speed frequency of 3.5 GHz and an insanely fast 4.7 GHz, which is by far, the highest among the Ryzen 3000 series. The chip features 72MB total cache and a 105W TDP just like other Ryzen 9 components. The current TDP is based on the numbers at the base frequency, which means it could be higher when the chip is overclocked manually or boosted.
The AMD Ryzen 9 3950X features a soldered design to allow delivery of better thermals compared to TIM. In terms of performance, the AMD Ryzen 9 3950X was overclocked to 5GHz using 1.608V on all 16 cores. It runs on LN2 and broke some world records. The AMD Ryzen 9 3950X broke three records during the overclocking activity.
This includes the 5434 points of AMD Ryzen 9 3950X at Cinebench R15. The previous WR was with Intel Core i9-9960X, which scored 5320 points. It also broke the Cinebench R20 where the AMD Ryzen 9 3950X scored 12167 points breaking the previous WR score of Intel Core i9-7960 X of 10895 points. The AMD Ryzen 9 3950X also broke Intel Core i9-7960X's record of 60991 points on Geekbench 4 when it scored 65499 points.

Aside from these, a slide shared by Benchlife confirms that both the Ryzen 3000 and Ryzen X570 series are programmed to back higher DDR4 frequencies. MSI was able to hit speeds of DDR$-51000 on air and anticipate that 4266 MHz would be the best spot for the majority of the X570 motherboards. The AMD Ryzen 9 3950X is expected to be released in September 2019.
