Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip are just like other married couples, they also had their fight and arguments. In fact, a royal correspondent revealed that Her Majesty once told her husband to "shut up" during their "blazing rows."
According to a 2007 Daily Mirror report, James Whitaker revealed that even though Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip were married for decades, they still have explosive fights with each other. A royal insider reportedly told him that the royal couple has "blazing rows" that were "unbelievable" to witness. Because of this, the monarch allegedly told the Duke of Edinburgh to "shut up."
The royal correspondent claims it's hard to believe "what you're seeing" when the royal couple fights, and there were allegedly cries of Rubbish, as well as "You don't know what you're talking about." Whitaker further added that it is not actually unknown for Her Majesty to tell her husband to shut up.
But, royal correspondents Camilla Tominey and Hugo Vickers believe that the fights and arguments of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip have only strengthened their marriage and relationship. In fact, previous reports revealed that Her Majesty described her husband as her "guide" and "constant strength."
In a 2014 documentary The Majestic Life of Queen Elizabeth II, Vickers also noted that the royal spouses were "well-matched". In addition, the Duke of Edinburgh does not hold back even though Her Majesty has a higher position than him.
Furthermore, a royal insider claims that one good thing about Prince Philip is that he's the only one who could actually speak candidly with the monarch. While she leads them in public, her husband reportedly wears pants when they're at home.
For Tominey, she said that Queen Elizabeth would be the first person to admit that the Duke of Edinburgh is not just somebody who minces his words. And instead, he reportedly has an opinion on everything and does not mind expressing what's on his mind.
Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip got married back in November 1947, and they were reportedly distant cousins. The royal couple shared four children, eight grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. The two were together for more than 70 years, but they reportedly started living apart.
The Duke of Edinburgh is already 98-years-old and fully retired from his royal duties. Her Majesty, on the other hand, reportedly knows that her husband would be happier if he'll be staying at the Wood Farm on the Sandringham estate.
