Apple has just issued the first beta release of iOS 13 and it appears now that the mobile OS, even before its official rollout, is open for jailbreaking. Independent developer @iBSparkes recently tweeted an iPhone 8 running Cydia on iOS 13.0, indicating that the device has been unlocked. Be warned though that what was showcased will not necessarily lead to a public jailbreak release.

It is true @iBSparkes has proven that iOS 13 is no different from its predecessor - that is the same shell that can be cracked open. The dev demonstrated that Cydia - the app repository for jailbroken iPhones and iPads - can co-exist with iOS 13. Additionally, his tampering of the software led him to the discovery of a zero-day exploit, which according to iDownloadBlog is a basic ingredient for jailbreaking.

The dev, however, stopped short of saying that he intends to take on the path set before by the likes of Team Electra and unc0ver. The hacking groups were able to build versions of iOS 12 jailbreak but it's unclear if @iBSparkes will do the same for iOS 13.

As things stand now, the effort to jailbreak iOS 13 is still in the preliminary stage. From the observation offered by Value Walk, it seems likely @iBSparkes is looking to partner with fellow hackers on a project that could produce to replace Chimera and the unc0ver jailbreak.

This might be the reason why the dev tagged Luca Todesco prominently when he revealed to the jailbreaking world the progress of his works so far. Todesco, after all, is known for his earlier jailbreak adventures and is currently the go-to-man by emerging developers looking for some mentorship and a possible partnership.

Will Todesco answer to the call, and if so will the two devs working together cook up a fully functional iOS 13 jailbreak? It could be but one thing is certain - there is no assurance that whatever they achieved will eventually make its way to the public. In fact, there is no assurance at all that @iBSparkes plans to assemble a public jailbreak.

At best, the dev simply showed that despite Apple's hard work iOS 13 remains vulnerable and therefore open for jailbreaking. But like Todesco, it is possible @iBSparkes merely wants to open the door for other hackers to pick up on his work and do the rest.

So if the honor of releasing an iOS 13 jailbreak is not something that @iBSparkes seeks, someone has to do it. And even if that someone commences on the work now, it is unlikely that the finalized jailbreak will be out anytime soon.

Practicality dictates that Apple needs to wrap up first the beta phases of iOS 13 and when the official version is finally unleashed then the countdown starts for an iOS 13 jailbreak release. And that is if a dev like @iBSparkes or Todesco will actually work on a jailbreaking the upcoming OS version.
