It seems that the drug controversy surrounding iKON leader B.I or Kim Hanbin is far from over as it was revealed that the police are now in contact with his accuser Han.
According to a report by All Kpop, authorities are now coordinating with B.I's accuser who has been living overseas, and the witness is expected to give her testimony against the former iKON leader as well as former YG Entertainment founder Yang Hyun Suk. It can be recalled that Han previously accused authorities of not investigating B.I's case even though they received evidence that he tried to purchase drugs.
The drug scandal broke out after an expose by entertainment site Dispatch that released Kakao Talk messages by iKON's B.I with an alleged drug supplier inquiring about the purchase of marijuana and LSD. In his statement, he apologized to fans and his members and did not deny that he tried to purchase drugs to get through a difficult time in his life. He went on to explain that he did not go through with it because he was too scared of the consequences should he engage in the use of illegal drugs.
Shortly after, YG Entertainment announced B.I's decision to leave iKON to protect his members from criticism. They also announced B.I's request to be released from his exclusive contract from the agency, which they granted.
Over the weekend, YG Founder Yang Hyun Suk and his brother Yang Min Suk stepped down from all positions they hold in the agency after stocks dived the continued scandals rocking the management since the prostitution scandal called Seungri-gate involving BIG BANG maknae Seungri and Yang Hyun Suk himself. After B.I's scandal, stocks dropped by 5.6 percent but bounced back by 5.42 percent within hours after the Yang brothers resigned.
While it seems bleak for the former leader of iKON, a lawyer said that it would be difficult to prosecute B.I for drug charges based on the evidence at hand. A lawyer, who appeared as a resource person for Section TV, said that while Korean law is very strict and uncompromising when it comes to distributing drugs, it would be hard to prosecute a celebrity on the basis of attempting to purchase illegal substances, another report said.
The lawyer further said that B.I's case was particularly strange because apart from the conversation released that linked the iKON leader to marijuana and LSD, there was no evidence suggesting that he was a distributor of the drugs.
