Youtuber Simone Giertz decided to change a Tesla Model 3 into the very first Tesla pickup truck in the world, nicknamed the "Truckla." The end result may split opinions, but the video showing the making and tuning process is remarkable.
There has been a huge demand for the Tesla pickup truck nowadays with Tesla CEO and owner Elon Musk teasing about it a couple of times. Famous Youtuber Giertz is one of them, so she decided to transform her Model 3 into a pickup truck and called it the "Truckla."
The Tesla Model 3 is undoubtedly the most popular car in Tesla's lineup today. One of the reasons for this is that it is the most accessible version for users with its price starting at $35,000. Even though it is cheaper than its brothers, this does not mean it is a cheap car and Giertz is aware of that, hence even saying to herself that the idea of transforming it into a pickup truck may be the smartest of the stupidest thing she had ever done.
It was quite ambitious, but Geirtz is a fan of pickup's trucks power, space, and reliability. But then she doesn't want to opt for the traditional diesel engine pickups as she is an advocate of alternative fuel and electric vehicle cars. With the slow progress of Elon Musk in creating the pickup version, the Youtuber had no other option but to buy a Tesla Model 3, got down to work and transform it to create her own Tesla pickup truck, and thanks to her work, we now have something really unique.
In the viral video is the Tesla Model 3 turned pickup truck, one can follow step by step all the cuts, welds, how Geirtz overcome all the frustrations and problems she encounter during the transformation up to the moments the Truckla is first powered up after the procedure. The famous Youtuber didn't build the pickup truck in one night. It took more than a year of research wherein Giertz took all the time to study every cut and every material she wants to be put on the Model 3, before finally doing so.
A project of this size was also not carried out by only one person. Geirtz has a team of mechanics and enthusiasts around the area, and some other specialists in the modification of vehicles. Among the collaborators are Marcos Ramirez, Richard Benoit as well as Youtuber and designer Laura Kampf.
In the end, we have a Tesla Model 3 almost unrecognizable, although it's front portion is practically unchanged. The big changes are naturally in the rear, and it wouldn't be surprising if Geirtz would receive several requests from other people who would want their Model 3 to be turned into a pickup.
Geirtz said that she hopes people would not see her as another petulant Youtuber who only does things for the sake of increasing views. Her main goal is to construct something and not destroy the Tesla Model 3, and in the end, she believes that she had achieved it and the final look and the power of the Truckla is indeed her dream car.
It is worth noting that the true Tesla pickup truck would come soon. In a podcast a few weeks ago, Musk announced that they are almost there and even revealed some important details about it such as the price which would probably be at $49,000. Its overall functionality which would be more powerful than the F-150 and its speed which would be faster than a Porsche 911.
The most controversial point will be its design since Musk mentioned that its design is going to be like really futuristic cyberpunk truck type, something that looks like it comes out from Blade Runner. This may be the main difference of it from truckla since the Tesla Model 3 turned pickup truck looks like a conventional truck.
