Read at your own risk: This article contains spoilers for Lucifer Season 4.
Earlier this month, Netflix officially renewed Lucifer for a new season following a great entrance to the streaming giant. As anyone would recall it, FOX canceled the DC comic series adaptation after the third season.
While the viewership ratings and numbers could be the main factors why the whole fandom took it to social media and Netflix to save the show, and gladly, Netflix accepted the campaign and commissioned Lucifer Season 4.
In May of this year, the fourth season arrived at the streaming service with a total of ten episodes. Although this is the shortest season run of the show, nothing compares to the joy that the production and fandom experienced after being renewed following an apparent cancellation from its parent network.
In a very short period, fans who binge-watched the new season immediately finished the whole course. Of course, this left most of them to wonder about its continuation. But thankfully, Netflix announced, right away, their plans for the show.
According to Deadline, Season 5 is already on its way. However, the good news came with a twist - it will serve as the final installment to conclude and wrap up Lucifer's course.
With this kind of announcement at hand, the thoughts and opinions of the fans are in full mixture. On the one hand, having a new season is exciting. But on the other, it is also saddening considering that it will already be the final run for Lucifer.
As a result, the majority of the fandom took it again to social media and made their voices be heard once more.
According to Refinery 29, the series showrunner, Ildy Modrovich, addressed all the campaigns and commotion about the show's future. And to the fans' dismay, he confirmed that it is already now the time to say goodbye to the show. Even so, he ensured that Lucifer Season 5 would be a "love letter" to the whole fandom as a means of appreciation and gratitude. Also, he further hinted that the "best is yet to come" for the show.
While the new season is already inked, there are no confirmed release dates yet. And it is expected that these details will be uncovered once the filming and shooting are concluded. Nevertheless, several individuals speculate that the final season will, most likely, arrive in 2020.
As for the plot, the fourth season ended with Lucifer coming back home to hell. He decided to leave Earth to keep it safe from the demons who tried and will try to escape hell. Accordingly, the new season is likely to pick up where it las left off. But certainly, he will go back to Earth for Chloe.
