The Orville season 3 is coming back on FOX. However, the sci-fi series will not start airing its new season until early 2020.
According to Comic Book, The Orville season 3 has not been set for the network's fall schedule in the new season. It used to premiere during September for the first and second seasons, and it's not clear why there is a delay. However, fans are still pleased that the show has not been canceled.
Given these developments, The Orville season 3 won't be expected to begin production until late in the summer. However, fans will likely learn more about the upcoming installment at the San Diego Comic-Con because the show will have a panel at this fan event.
According to Bleeding Cool, The Orville cast and writers will be at the Comic-Con on Saturday, July 20, from 2:30 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. Their presentation will come after two of creator Seth MacFarlane's other shows -- American Dad and Family Guy-- which will also have a panel.
Expected to grace Ballroom 20 of the fan event are MacFarlane, Adrianne Palicki, Scott Grimes, J Lee, Peter Macon, Jessica Szohr, Mark Jackson, Chad L. Coleman, and Penny Johnson Jerald. The Orville executive producers Brannon Braga, David A. Goodman, and Jon Cassar will also be at the Comic-Con.
Fans will have a chance to watch never-before-seen clips from The Orville season 2. The cast will be talking about what's coming next for this fan-favorite show.
The crew of the USS Orville had a lot to handle in The Orville season 2 following the revelation that an AI species intended to kill all human life. Amid this, there's also growing tension between the Mocclus and the Planetary Union and of course, space's biggest villains, the Krills, continue to be a threat.
One thing is certain in the upcoming installment, though, as The Orville season 2 finally gave the relationship between Ed (MacFarlane) and Kelly (Palicki) some closure. The third season will be a new beginning for both now that they have accepted that they cannot have a romantic future together.
Meanwhile, The Orville's very first comic issue will be released as a four-part series beginning July 17, per Hollywood Reporter. Its storyline is set between the first and second season and will introduce new characters that have not yet been seen on the TV show.
