The First Lady Melania has been exhorted by a historian to speak on her "vulnerabilities."
The recent special Woman of Mystery: Melania Trump on the First Lady of the United States, Melania Trump, was aired on CNN. It had revealed some things about the 49-year-old former model which she would not have under ordinary circumstances voluntarily shared, fiercely private as she is.
But Carl Sferrazza Anthony, a historian and expert on the political and social power of presidential wives, pointed out in the aforementioned documentary that if she only came out and spoke on her "vulnerabilities," it would be an "enormous" thing. Anthony firstly made an example of her accent.
The First Lady was born in Novo Mesto, Slovenia, but despite Anthony's choosing to call her accent a vulnerability, the former model is said to be able to speak six languages including French, German, and Italian.
But he explains that even if only "sometimes" if she would consider speaking of what she feels about having the "barrier" and the "judgement" of someone who speaks with an accent, it would be a big thing.
Still, the historian went on to speak of her reported kidney procedure which happened not too long ago in May. He pointed out that the First Lady could have come out and spoken on her kidney condition, "plain and simple" as well as "unemotional" and also "unembarrassed."
Anthony felt that, if Melania would only open up about her "very human qualities," it would be an "enormous" thing. He went on to point out the example of a former first lady who had brought up in public her struggle with her breast cancer.
He shared how the First Lady Betty Ford had been diagnosed with breast cancer back in 1974 and had made the realization that it was "bigger" than her. Anthony spoke of how that had impacted the lives of millions of women.
That had been "real life," according to the historian.
Yet, the First Lady's spokesperson, Stephanie Grisham, had also spoken about the matter, saying that, while people deserved to know more about their First Lady and her "wonderful" qualities, "privacy" was also "important."
Grisham went on to say that she had learned from the First Lady that it was not necessary to share everything with everybody, and that seems to "work out" well enough.
Melania's kidney procedure was for a non-threatening condition in her kidney, as per the White House official announcement. There had been no problems with the procedure, although it had been enough to keep Melania at the hospital for the duration of a week.
