Apple teases with the new features of its latest Apple Watch Series scheduled for release in September. The United States Patent and Trademark Office published Apple's latest patent featuring the design of its Apple Watch made with a built-in camera at the back.
The design is the first patent of its kind. Rumors suggest a camera either on or near the watch screen that can be used for FaceTime or FaceID. The patent shows that the new watch is equipped with a dual sensor for the precise taking of the picture. The sensors will be placed in front and at the back of the band, giving a 360-degree field of view. A malleable metal was used to make the band of the watch, built to hold in its place so that users don't have to contort it. Users need to press a button, pinch or use its voice command feature to take a photo.
The patent shows that the company is focused on the features of the watch. However, it is not guaranteed that the watch will be available in the market anytime soon. Speculations concluded that it would take Apple a few years to materialize the design and it won't be ready for launch in September.
The release of the Apple Watch Series 5 in 2019 is still not certain. However, the company consecutively released a new Apple Watch every September for the past four years. There is still a chance that they might release the new model.
The Apple Watch Series 5 is independent from the iPhone. The WatchOS will provide a standalone app store to the Apple Watch. Users can also download updates directly to the watch. Recently, WatchOS 6 allowed access to work summaries using the Apple Watch even after they were dismissed. It is also known that the company plans to extend the boundaries on health features for the Apple Watch.
Apple's WatchOS 2 launched its Cycle App to track the menstrual cycles of its female users. The noise app was also introduced to monitor the noise levels that we are exposed to during the day. The new series is expected to surpass the boundaries of the apps.
According to rumors, the new watch might add features for blood pressure and glucose monitoring. The company, however, is required to pass the FDA certification and conduct clinical studies to launch the app. The company announced its Heart Health Study as a start for its ECG feature launched on the Series 4.
