The San Antonio Spurs organization is not exactly known for flamboyant acts in order to spark attention and interest. Nevertheless, a devoted Spurs fan recently purchased a billboard with quite a compelling message. The billboard appears to be recruiting Golden State Warriors big man DeMarcus Cousins to join the team.

Cousins is currently a free agent and has yet to express his intention to re-sign with the Warriors. With Kevin Durant headed to the Brooklyn Nets, it wouldn't be a surprise if the big man chooses to part ways with the Warriors as well.

There are a number of teams in the league that are in dire needs of a dominant big man. San Antonio, with LaMarcus Aldrige, secured for the next couple of years, is not one that comes up on top of that list. Nevertheless, the Spurs are known as a conservative team. With the league quickly transitioning into a fast-paced, spacing-oriented basketball, the Spurs have held onto the traditional big-man setup anchored around Aldridge.

The rumor about Cousins considering to sign with the Spurs started when he enlisted the services of notable agent Jeff Schwartz from Excel Sports. Quickly following that confirmation, rumors about Spurs star DeMar DeRozan contacting Cousins have floated on several sports talk shows and forums. While all these bodes well for Cousins and the Spurs, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski did not agree, saying that there is no market for Cousins at the moment.

Last season, Cousins averaged 16.3 points, 8.2 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.5 blocks per game. Despite belonging to an high-caliber team composed of Durant and Stephen Curry, Cousins' championship aspiration was shattered by a devastating injury to Durant. The Warriors eventually fell on Game 6 from the eventual champions, the Toronto Raptors.

Cousins has had an impressive career. Unfortunately, he has suffered quite a number of injuries over the past few seasons. Injuries that have left him sidelined and unable to deliver his full potential once on the floor.

Should Cousins decide to sign with the Spurs, he will probably share big-man duties with Aldridge and Jakob Poeltl. This means that he will also be reunited with his former Sacramento Kings teammate, forward Rudy Gay. It will be interesting to watch Aldridge and Cousins working the block. A towering presence that is reminiscent of the Tim Duncan and David Robinson era of the Spurs.

Many commented that Cousins do not exactly fit the Spurs' image of class and restraint. The big man has a storied career of clashing with refs, teammates, and coaches.
