Princess Beatrice was devastated after she received heartbreaking news from one of the charities she has been dedicating herself to. A children's hospice which she was patron of was forced to shut down before they could even be officially open to the public.

The children's hospice called Grace's Place was scheduled to be open and make their services available to the public later on this week. But, it appears financial problems have proven to make that grand opening impossible anytime soon.

Apparently, the center needed a total of 1.2 million euros in order to start their operations, but they were only able to raise less than half of the amount. The center has only been in the motions of planning for the operations and services they would offer once they could be open. However, they did not receive enough support and funding in order to make a move forward and start with their operations.

The charity organization called Forget Me Not which was based in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, took the reins of the hospice and began managing the center. They had been taking control of everything from the improvement of the facilities to the scouting for healthcare providers as well as the fundraising for the center.

The organization had started doing so way back in July of 2017. The aim of this charity is to give support to children and young adults who suffer from varying life-limiting illnesses.

Moreover, the chief executive officer of Forget Me Not, Luen Thompson, recently spoke up about the disappointing news in a statement he released after the announcement that finalized the closing down and halt of the children's hospice project.

He confessed that the amount of support and donations from the local community were overwhelming, however, still in fact insufficient. Even though they had been able to collect an amount to slowly launch the project, he revealed that it would not be enough to sustain the operations in the long run.

He also added that it was in the best interest of the organization not to rashly start operations with the amount they had at hand, only to run dry and be unable to provide patients with their long-term needs. Thompson also pointed out that the cost for opening a high-quality health care center like this one is really high and will only continue becoming more expensive in the coming years.

Princess Beatrice became the esteemed royal patron of Forget Me Not in July 2013 and has since then been very active in the numerous projects of the organizations. She dedicates a lot of her time to the causes this organization funds and is known to be really hands-on with the charity work involved.

Although she is yet to release an official statement of the matter, it is understandable she is nothing less than heartbroken about the news.
