Apple might change the screen to body ratio of its upcoming iPhone series in 2020. A new report surfaced today that the Cupertino-based tech giant might unveil the first-ever notchless iPhone in the world starting next year. The report came from the ever-credible TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
According to the reputable analyst in a new research note, the Cupertino-based tech giant plans on rolling out changes to the front side of its flagship devices. Kuo claims that Apple will release one notchless iPhone in 2020. This could be achieved by using a much smaller front camera lens for an enhanced screen to body ratio.
It can be recalled that several weeks ago, there was a rumor claiming that Apple will release a new set of iPhones that will have a smaller notch. The leaked renders, however, reveal that all the iPhone models scheduled for release this year will have no changes in terms of the screen to body ratio, unlike the previous models that were released ahead. A report from China Times, citing Credit Suisse investment firm's analyst states that the rumored notchless iPhone in 2020 will not have FaceID.
Additionally, the notchless iPhone that will be released in 2020 will feature an under-screen front camera and acoustic fingerprint authentication that is full screen. This means that through this kind of feature, the user can use any part of the notchless iPhone display for authentication. It would be a great and convenient feature, especially when multitasking.
But, many tech analysts claim that Apple's efforts to achieve notchless iPhones might be completed in 2021 and not in 2020. The Credit Suisse investment firm's analyst claims that all three iPhone models that will be launched after a couple of years will be released without any notch. So far, it is not yet confirmed if the Cupertino-based tech giant is going to integrate its own version of the full-display authentication or if it will utilize in-screen fingerprint scanners.
Earlier, Oppo announced that it has under-screen camera technology. Samsung is also planning to integrate to its future devices a refined version of the technology before Apple could possibly adopt it. Apple, unlike other tech companies, waits for the technology to mature, get several improvements over time, and calculate its cost before it integrates this tech to its products.
Apple is expected to launch its first-ever 5G-ready iPhone in 2020. If the rumor about the notchless iPhone in 2020 is accurate, then there are lots of things to look forward to from Apple.
