Queen Elizabeth led the British monarchy for over seven decades now. Many are thinking if she is now ready to descend the throne because of old age. Seemingly, she still wants to continue sitting in her throne. Queen Elizabeth promised that she would be the queen of England for life when she celebrated her 21st birthday. She has kept her promise, leading Britain until her old age.
There are claims that the Queen refused to step down from her throne is because she doesn't want to see the next King fail in his obligations.
The future king is not as popular compared to his mother. Others doubt him because of his involvement on past scandals. The Prince divorced his wife, Princess Diana, and married another woman, Camilla Parker Bowles. The majority of the British people wanted Prince William as their next king.
Others believe that the future king may not even be half as great as his mother when it comes to ruling the monarchy. It is, however, not true that the Queen refuses to pass the crown because she doesn't trust her son. There is no evidence that the Queen believes that the prince will fail. The king was given enough responsibilities since his childhood to prepare him for the leadership. The Queen surely trusts his son since she has prepared him for the roles since his childhood. Historically, Kings and Queens in Britain never retired trough abdication. The Queen might lessen her load of obligations as she gets older, but she will never abdicate.
Prince Charles is certainly the next king based on the line of succession. It will happen whether the public is in favor of it or not. Some might think that he is not worthy of being the Queen's successor, but the only thing they can do about it is to accept.
Angela Mollard, a royal expert, claimed that the Prince is now loosening up as he prepares to take over the throne from his mother. She added that Prince Charles has been sending clear signals he is in a "happy" position to take over the throne from the monarch through his social media page. She said that the Prince's attitude has been changing in preparation for his future role.
