Queen Elizabeth plans to give up her powers at the age of 95, giving Prince Charles chance to prove that he is worthy of the title King and he can perform all his obligations for the citizens of Britain.

A royal expert said that the Queen might bring in the 1937 Regency Act which allows a reigning monarch to hand over power if they feel they are unable to perform their duties fully. The future king will perform the majority of duties of her mother's duties while she keeps her royal title.

Prince Philip, who will act as the Guardian of the Queen, the Houses of Parliament spokesperson, and a third senior person need to provide documents supporting the Queen's request.

Phil Dampier, a royal author, told Yahoo's The Royal Box that there is talk that when she reaches 95 in a couple of years, she may slow down and possibly the Regency Act will be brought in. The expert said that she will still be Queen, but Prince Charles will take over most of the duties. Dampier also said that the Prince is starting to do that already, being at the state opening in Parliament and the Commonwealth conference. He added that the future king is starting to take over a lot of the duties and doing the investitures.

Many occasions prove that Prince Charles is starting to take over the obligations of his mother. During the Queen's foreign trips to Australia and New Zealand on her Diamond Jubilee, the prince is the representative of the head of the state.

According to Robert Jobson, a royal commentator, on his interview with Mail on Sunday, his conversations with high-ranking courtiers concluded that the preparations for the transition of the Crown are moving forward.

Jobson claimed that the communications staffs of the Palace had been ordered to move forward with the 1937 Regency Act. Jobson noted that one former senior member of the Royal Household has said that the Queen has absolute respect towards the monarchy and its role in society, as well as her stewardship. On top of that, the Queen is also keen into making sure that she had done everything for the Kingdom before the official handover of the title. Nevertheless, the Queen has been mindful of her age, and she wants to make sure that everything is in proper order should the inevitable happen.
