A bunch of new characters are going to be introduced in Ozark season 3 on Netflix. However, viewers of the Netflix drama starring Jason Bateman (as Marty Byrd) and Laura Linney (as Wendy Byrd) might have to wait to get to know the new blood as the show's release will likely be pushed back to 2020.

According to Den of GeekOzark season 3 started production in Georgia last May. It has a target to finish principal photography by October. With post-production taking another three to six months to complete, then the new season won't drop on the streaming platform until the following year.

The wait could be worth it though as the introduction of new characters on Ozark season 3 would make for an interesting storyline. Joining Bateman and Linney are Iron Fist actor Tom Pelphrey as Ben Davis, Jessica Jones actress Jessica Frances Dukes as Maya Miller, Power actor Joseph Sikora as Frank Cosgrove Jr., Ten Days in the Valley actor Felix Solis as Omar Navarro, and NCIS: New Orleans actress Madison Thompson as Erin.

Ben is Wendy's brother, and he's bound to shake up the Byrd family in Ozark season 3. Showrunner Chris Mundy told The Hollywood Reporter that Ben's mental illness would destabilize the family further.

Maya, on the other hand, is the new FBI agent assigned to investigate and take down Marty's casino/money laundering operation. Frank Jr. is the son of the Kansas City mob boss that Marty had a dangerous encounter in the Ozark season 2 finale, and he's bound to clash with Ruth (played by Julia Garner) at the casino.

Omar, on the other hand, is the Mexico cartel leader who will unleash hell for the Byrdes this upcoming season. Erin is the daughter of Helen (played by Janet McTeer) who will be visiting the Ozarks while her mother does business with Marty and Wendy. Needless to say, the Byrdes will encounter conflicts from all sides in Ozark season 3.

Critics have hailed this show as comparable to Breaking Bad. But Ozark centers on an accountant who has to launder money for the cartel or else his family will die.

At the end of Ozark season 2, however, Marty was ready to leave it all behind and risk his life. Wendy, it seems, has a change of heart and has decided that the family stay put in Ozarks and proceed with their illegal dealings.
