Melania Trump was recently placed in an extremely awkward position by her husband who told a few Democratic congresswomen of color to go back to their own countries.
In a very public and blunt manner, Donald Trump insinuated that Representatives Rashida Tlaib, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ayanna Presley, and Ilhan Omar are all women who are noticeably not natural-born citizens of the United States.
He also went on to say that these women apparently came from poor countries with immensely catastrophic governments, and even added that they should go back to those respective countries. Melania has maintained her silence and has kept mum about the whole issue to avoid political drama with any contradictory statement to her husband's.
But, her silence has only sparked a lot of outcries and protests about the President's anti-immigrant biases.
A lot of reporters and other significant persons in the press were quick to point out that Donald's wife is not a natural-born citizen of the United States. One of the reporters who quickly fought back with this angle was a CNN commentator named Ana Navarro, who is a Republican strategist, herself an immigrant from Nicaragua and currently residing and working in America.
Navarro was quick to argue that the United States was their country as much as it was Trump's country, and if he is starting to send people back to their homelands, he should start by sending his wife and her family back to Slovenia.
The political commentator also added that she---and every other immigrant in the United Stated---is sick of the hypocrisy and discrimination of Donald's administration.
One cannot help but notice that, due to having a racist husband, Melania's background and the very roots where she springs from are often brought up and used to argue against Donald's undignified anti-immigrant political agenda.
There has been a lot of digging as a result into the First Lady's past, including where she originally hails from, her parents and family, as well as the circumstance of how she got into the United States, going back to when she first worked as a model.
Here are some interesting facts about the First Lady:
1. Melania is not the first foreign-born First Lady. Melania is the second foreign-born First Lady ever to grace the halls of the White House.
However, she is the first one to be born into a communist nation, Slovenia, back when Marshal Josip Tito ruled then Yugoslavia. Louisa Adams, the wife of the sixth American president, Quincy Adams, was the first foreign first lady whose roots traced back to England.
2. She can speak a multitude of languages fluently. Melania can speak a total of six languages very well. These include Slovene, Serbian, German, French, Italian, and English.
This comes in handy during international visits or in her duties as a hostess at the White House, as she and the President meet with multiple foreign guests. The First Lady's accent is thick, and that is said to be the reason why whenever she can, she turns down giving public speeches to save herself from criticism and embarrassment.
3. Melania is the first Catholic in the White House since the 1960s. The former model confirmed that she practices the Catholic faith, and this is further backed up by the precious rosary she carries around which is said to be a gift from the Pope himself on one of her trips to Rome.
The Kennedys were the last Catholic first couple in the White House, and after that term, a parade of Protestant and Presbyterian couples have since been in residence.
That makes Melania the first Catholic to be in the White House since the 1960s, although Donald is known to be Presbyterian himself (but when the couple got married in 2005, the ceremony was held at an Episcopalian church).
