The earth is dying now, states NOW Transforming Travel, an online blog. Because of so many man-made factors such as water, energy and climate crisis, an increase of temperature in the oceans, humans' over-consumption of meat, fisheries depletion, rise in population, and poverty, the planet's deterioration seems inevitable. And the changes are happening fast.
In a YouTube video posted by Tech Insider, the group enumerated several new inventions that show how some people still choose not to give up and help save the Earth. The goal of these inventions is to help people boycott plastic by giving them efficient and effective but still environment-friendly options, make the Earth a safer and better place to live in and reduce the number of garbage, which is mainly one of the sources of poisonous gasses such as methane and carbon.
EDIBLE WATER BLOBS
Considered as "the new generation water bottle," water blobs were invented by Tex Robertson of Camp Longhorn in Burnet, Texas. To completely eradicate water bottles, which take years to decompose, these water blobs are created with an edible gel-like structure made from seaweed extracts. So, consuming the product won't make a lot of waste anymore. Also, water blobs' production cost is a lot cheaper than plastic bottles. This can help people save not just money but even resources.
MR. TRASH WHEEL
Created in Baltimore, Maryland USA, Mr. Trash Wheel is a trash interceptor, which is a vessel that helps remove garbage from the rivers. Ever since it was created by John Kellett in 2008, the vessel has helped the community keep their rivers clean with over 999 tons of trash removed. It is also powered by solar or current, which is good as it only uses renewable energy as its power source.
PLASTIC-FREE SHAMPOO PODS
One of the plastic bottles that dominate our world's garbage is shampoo bottles. At the age of 14, Benjamin Stern decided to design a product that could end this problem. With his plastic-free shampoo pods, everyone can wash their hair without feeling guilty of harming nature with their plastic shampoo bottles or sachets. Also, one pod can already wash the hair of any length. With this, you can surely maximize every drop of the product big time.
The world needs our help. We don't need to be like these inventors to create a change for our planet. Just by doing simple things like minimizing the use of plastic bottles, throwing your trash in the right places, and by not wasting resources, you can already create a huge difference for the betterment not just for the earth's future, but also for the next generation.
