Andrew Morton, a royal author, claimed that Princess Diana was unable to love her husband, Prince Charles, after a heartbreaking realization following Prince Harry's birth. The author said that Prince Charles said that she was stunned by his dismissive remarks over the birth of his son.
In his book "Diana: Her True Story," Morton alleged that Charles wanted to have a girl so when he met Harry, he briefly saw the newborn before going off to play polo. He wrote that Diana knew that Charles was desperate for their second child to be a girl, but the scan already showed that she would deliver a boy.
He mentioned that it was a secret she nursed until the moment he was born at 4.20pm on Saturday, September 15 in the Lindo wing at St Mary's Hospital. He also noted that Charles' reaction finally closed the door on any love Diana may have felt for him. The author said that the Princess felt the dismissive remarks of her husband when he left to play polo. He claimed that Diana told her friends that something inside her died from that moment.
Norton also noted that it was a reaction which marked the beginning of the end of their marriage. He also said that Diana's decision to give up one of her prized possessions added to their conflict. The author said that the Princess let go of her luxury sports car because she didn't want to be seen in it in the early 90s, a time of economic hardship for many British people.
The author also claimed that the family's security officials advised her to give up the Mercedes sports vehicle. Norton's revelations came after a contributor for the Daily Mail, Petronella Wyatt, said that Diana and then-husband Prince Charles had a major falling out over a set of car keys.
Ms. Wyatt claimed that the argument started over Charles' need to move his car from the drive-in Highgrove. She added that a distant cousin of Diana, Charles Churchill, told one of her friends that the Queen had been planning to visit them on that day. Prince Charles's car was in the way, but his keys were missing when he went to get his keys.
Another speculation about the end of their marriage claims that Diana is desperate for the Prince attention. Ingrid Seward said that Diana needed attention in much the same way a drowning man needs air, and she pushed aside the restraints of both common sense and court protocols in her frantic attempts to get it.
