HBO recently revealed Game of Thrones Prequel's pilot is done filming, and people behind the scene are now busy editing the sequences. Now, lead star Naomi Watts, whose role remains to be a big mystery, is "thrilled" for the upcoming spinoff.
"I'm super thrilled," the 50-year-old star told Variety at the premiere of her latest movie, Luce, about the new HBO series. At the recent TCA summer press tour in Los Angeles, the network's president of programming Casey Bloys revealed the show's pilot, which contains "amazing" footages," has wrapped up filming in Belfast.
Watts is joined by a lot of A-list stars in the series. Talking about her co-stars, she said they are a bunch of "great people," who did a "great job" for the show.
"It was one of the most phenomenal things that's happened on TV... I'm super excited," she teased. However, the King Kong star can't say much about Game of Thrones Prequel. Her lips are tightly sealed as the show is bound to secrecy.
Meanwhile, HBO finally addressed the petition to remake Game of Thrones Season 8 after the fan backlash. In an official statement, Bloys said one of the very few downsides of having a hugely popular series is ending it. Fans have their own opinion on how the show should end, and it seems they didn't see what they want to see from it.
Although the petition shows fans' eagerness, it is something that the network would never consider doing. Bloys went on to say it is not the show's ending that hurts the viewers, but its storytelling.
According to BGR, a bittersweet ending for Game of Thrones Season 8 is already expected. However, it could have ended beautifully.
HBO should have been inspired by Avengers: Endgame's ending. The film managed to pull off its conclusion in a very adorable way. It bravely killed a fan-favorite character. And although it brought fans major heartache, every minute of it was worth watching.
Bloys knew the showrunners David Benioff, and D.B. Weiss got the blame for the complaints Game of Thrones Season 8 continuously receive. He then cleared HBO only had minimal input on the series, although it should produce a rhythm between them and the creators as to what they expected to happen.
But despite the backlash, Game of Thrones Season 8 makes history once again by getting 32 nominations for the Emmy Awards this year. So, fans have to wait and see how Game of Thrones Prequel will play out when it hits the small screens either in 2020 or 2021.
