The long wait will be soon over as The Affair Season 5 is about to premiere in less than a month. Showtime has finally revealed the release date of the final season as well as some essential details about the new season. And based on the fans' reception, the plot and storyline will be so much more thrilling and compelling in comparison to the prior installments.
Before the fourth season's conclusion, it has been revealed that Alison has met her untimely demise due to a seemingly planned "suicide." But it has been uncovered that she was killed off by her love interest, Ben, as reiterated by TV Line.
Quite obviously, this will further play out in the coming episodes of the new season. Even so, it has been already hinted that a huge portion of The Affair Season 5 will shift its timeline and jump to a two to three-decade period.
Upon the timeline shift, it is said that Alison and Cole's now-grown-up daughter, Joanie, will return to Montauk and finally resolve the death of her mother. And as per reports, this will bring the whole plot into "full circle" as things will be fully uncovered before the season ends.
While it may all seem too chaotic and complicated for the characters, Showtime has previously explained that the final installment of the series is set to manifest how things are truly falling apart. Nevertheless, it will also exhibit how things could still "change" amid all the chaos.
This only goes to show that the main premise of The Affair Season 5 will focus on the consequences of the actions of the characters. Also, on the realization that before they can all move forward, they must first face their pasts along with the outcomes of their previous actions.
As for the regular cast members, Anna Paquin, Dominic West, and Maura Tierney will play the roles of Joanie, Noah, and Helen respectively. Alongside the mentioned actors, they will be joined by Julia Goldani Telles, Jadon Sand, and Sanna Lathan who are set to be Witney, Trevor, and Janelle. There are hints as well that Jennifer Jason Leigh and Lyriq Bent will be guest stars for the final run of the show.
