After the public feud with Scooter Braun and Scott Borchetta, Taylor Swift is recently announced to receive the first-ever Icon Award at the 2019 Teen Choice Awards. Fox released the confirmation on Thursday stating that the ME! artist is a true pop culture icon of recent times.
In a statement made with Variety, the network explained that Taylor, as one of today's "best-selling" music artists, is just fitting to get the award considering all of her achievements and accolades "go beyond" charts. Also, Fox talked about her being a genuine "social influencer" who utilizes her platform to create positive impacts on society.
Aside from these points, no further details have been given about the said award. Even so, Fox has emphasized that Taylor Swift is a true "icon" of today and why she is fit to accept the honor.
This year's ceremony for the Teen Choice Awards will be held on August 11, 2019, on Hermosa Beach, California. And based on the publicized list of nominees, Taylor Swift has over six nominations. These include the 2019 Choice Female Artist, Choice Summer Female Artist, Choice Social Star, Choice Song and Choice Pop Song for ME!, and Choice Summer Song for You Need To Calm Down.
Also, she is nominated for the Choice Fandom Award, thanks to the Swifties who continue to support her throughout the year amid all the career movements and dramas. But while having six nominations is quite too many already, Avengers: Endgame bags the highest number for having a total of nine nominations for this year's ceremony.
On another note, the nominations for the 2019 MTV Video Music Awards are also released earlier this week. And it has been widely reported that Taylor Swift got over ten nominations including Video of The Year and Song of The Year for her You Need To Calm Down.
These nominations are only based on the two tracks that Taylor Swift has released recently. While The Archer, Lover's "track 5", is already out, it seems that it did not make it to the final nominations for these awards. Nevertheless, with this kind of reception, many critics take that things will be much brighter for the artist after the release of her seventh album.
As for a new single, there is no further revelation given or hinted if there will be another one to be released before the album's arrival.
Lover, with a total 18 tracks, is now headed for its official deliverance which will happen on August 23.
