The Nokia 9 PureView saw a bit a mixed reception when it came out, but it seems as though HMD Global, the company behind the newer Nokia phones, is keen on making improvements on a new flagship.
A report from NokiaPowerUser claims that HMD Global is working on a successor to the original PureView and it's going to be called the Nokia 9.1 PureView. It's reportedly scheduled originally on Q3 2019, but after the original phone's mixed reception, particularly due to the camera, the company decided to postpone the launch to ensure that the cameras are as good as they can be. Along with that, a slew of upgraded features is in store as well.
The report also claims that the 9.1 PureView may sport a punch-hole camera on the front, with the snapper encased in a cut-out hole in the screen. This design is anything but new, as it's becoming the trend in some 2019 smartphones. Nokia has this design as well in the X71 model.
As for the specs, it's expected that it will share a lot of common traits with the original Nokia 9 PureView. The report says that the successor won't have the Snapdragon 855 Plus, but will be powered by the regular 855 chipsets instead. We're expecting the same camera resolution for the 9.1 as well.
Perhaps the most daring feature of the 9.1 PureView is the rumored support for 5G connectivity. So far, there haven't been any 5G Nokia phones, so it likely that new PureView will be the brand's first. However, there is also a rumor circulating that Nokia plans on releasing an affordable 5G phone, but we doubt it will be the new PureView.
It's also extremely likely that the Nokia 9.1 PureView will come with Android One and launch with Android Q out of the box, considering by the fourth quarter of 2019 the newest flavor of Android will already be in the wild. As for the phone's internal storage, there are no solid rumors yet. The Nokia came with an internal storage of 128GB and 6GB of RAM, so it's likely that the 9.1 will arrive with the same levels as well, although we're hoping for upgrades.
These features sound good, but these aren't the official word from Nokia, and it hasn't confirmed the existence of the 9.1 PureView yet. We're excited, but all of this should be taken with a grain of salt.
