Colton Haynes series regular gig in Arrow has become a real roller coaster ride for the actor. His role as Roy Harper-slash-Arsenal has been with the show ever since its pilot run. Shortly after the second season renewal, he was promoted as one of the show’s series regulars.
But things started to change in the fourth season. As it happened, Colton Haynes left the show due to personal reasons. Although the real reason behind is not disclosed directly, many reports have stated previously that it had something to do with his issues.
Two seasons after, he appeared on Arrow again, specifically on the final moments of the sixth season. Quite obviously, the fans immediately assumed that he would return for the next season. And without a doubt, Colton Haynes returned as a series regular for the most recent installment of the show.
This caused for many fans to rejoice as his character plays a huge role in the series. Not to mention that he is one of the “frontrunners” of the show ever since it began back in 2012. But in a total of 22 episodes, he only appeared in about half of the number which led for many of the fans to question his real status on the show.
In January of 2019, Arrow Season 8 has been commissioned by The CW. And months after the speculations about the show’s casting, Green Arrow TV confirmed that Colton Haynes would no longer return as a series regular for the eighth and final season.
Of course, this caused, once more, a huge commotion among the fans. But even so, the series current co-showrunner, Beth Schwartz, revealed in an interview that she is still hoping for his return.
These statements left by the co-showrunner has left the fans wondering whether Colton decided, again, to leave the show for good or not. And according to TV Line, many fans reached out to the celebrity upon hearing the news.
But as it turns out, he shared his statement on Twitter that the demotion was not his idea. And since the fans are now in an outrage over the decision, he explained that he is also waiting for further updates if he will still appear in some of the episodes.
Arrow Season 8 will only have a total of ten episodes. And this is a pretty short number in comparison to the previous season’s installments. Not to mention, the final season will also serve as an opener to the upcoming Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover.
So, it seems that the upcoming season will be “packed” with so much more essential storylines and plots to complement the crossover. Therefore, many of the fans are now theorizing that he might no longer appear in the final run of the show.
Arrow Season 8 is set to premiere on October 15, on The CW.
