AMC’s hit series, The Walking Dead Season 10, is about to arrive this fall. And since it’s now fast approaching, new details about the new season are now coming into the light. While these updates are not really enough for the fans, reports claim that the hype is becoming more apparent these days.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the series showrunner Angela Kang revealed that a new character will arrive along with the new season of the series. And based on her statements, the character, Dante, is actually taken from the show’s “source material.”
She went on to further uncover that Dante will be played by the popular television series actor, Juan Javier Cardenas, who is quite famous for his roles on SWAT, Snowfall, and Damnation.
In the comic series, Dante is a character from the Hilltop. And he actually first appeared on the source material’s issue #131 as per Comic Book. He is also well-known as Maggie’s “potential” love interest following the death of her husband, Glenn.
Along the way, Maggie was seemingly “reluctant” to open herself in a new relationship considering Glenn’s surprising demise both in the television and comic series. But even so, Dante’s arrival appears to offer a different path for Maggie which led for the two to pursue a romantic and relationship with each other.
Upon the revelation of Dante’s role in The Walking Dead, many fans have then speculated that the new season might bring Maggie back on the course of the show. However, Angela Kang immediately pointed out that Dante’s arrival on the show would take on a slightly different path considering that the context is quite different from the source material. Quite obviously, she is talking about Maggie’s absence on the show.
Instead of featuring his love interest with Maggie, The Walking Dead Season 10 will bring Dante in Alexandria which is revealed to play an integral role in the course of the new season. In short, the series will deviate from its source material in terms of Dante’s arc.
As per Skybound, Dante’s arrival on the series will not be the only new thing that will happen on the new season. And as confirmed by the series showrunner, there will be new other characters as well who will join the cast of The Walking Dead Season 10.
It is actually worth noting that these characters are either from the source material or from the writer’s plotline. Even so, one thing is for sure, and that is new characters will arrive on the new season.
The Walking Dead Season 10 will premiere on October 6, on AMC.
