BTS is arguably one of the most popular K-pop groups in history. Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook debuted just six years ago, but their accomplishments have already catapulted them to superstardom.
With that said, BTS became extremely in demand all over the world, making their schedules even more and more hectic every minute. From tours to TV appearances, performances, promotions, and more, the seven-member Big Hit Entertainment boy band have done it all — this is the exact reason why J-Hope feared that he might grow numb.
For the book “Interviews With K-Pop Stars” put together by journalist Park Hee A, the 25-year-old rapper, songwriter, dancer, and record producer talked about the success of BTS and the unending cycle of their obligations. With countless performances under his belt, J-Hope shared that he noticed he was growing number each time he performed on stage.
“With so many award shows and performances, I did start to feel a little confused about how I can possibly make each one different… or how I should be treating each stage,” J-Hope said. “It was impossible to not grow somewhat numb to the spotlight, especially after all the awards we had won over the years.”
While some may take his revelation negatively, J-Hope revealed that the feeling he had scared him. “That really scared me though. As soon as I realized that I felt numb to it all, the first thought that popped into my head was that I’m terrified,” he shared.
Just like the other BTS members, J-Hope wholeheartedly appreciates all the love and support that the ARMYs give them. However, it is worth noting that he is the only human who gets overwhelmed by certain situations. Fortunately, J-Hope got himself out of the funk and found a solution to his worries.
The BTS star made the ARMYs his inspiration to not grow numb with what he was doing. He knew that what he’s giving out to the fans will be returned to him. If he wasn't giving his 100% on stage, fans would quickly notice it.
“So now, I’m more focused on not bringing any negative energy on to the stage. I try to make every single performance as fun as it can be so that I don’t even get the chance to think about anything else. I look at each stage as a brand new performance,” J-Hope said.
