Warning: This article contains spoilers for The Blacklist Season 7.

Ever since The Blacklist started its course on NBC, one thing has remained visible - Liz and Ressler share a pretty close relationship that can be either turned into a romantic one or not. And as it appears, the fans grew even more curious with the show's future toward the matter.

Quite obviously, the apparent "spark" between the characters cannot be pushed through since Liz is married to Tom during the first few seasons of The Blacklist. But as the show progresses, the plot itself paves the way for the two to become so much more than just being friends.

Liz and Tom's marriage got annulled upon learning that Tom is an undercover agent. But then, the couple was too involved already not to pursue the "forbidden" relationship. In the end, they got married again and had Agnes.

However, things started to turn much more sour than the usual. And it all started when Mr. Kaplan decided to commit suicide than being killed again by Red. As it turned out, Tom died trying to reveal the truth behind Red's identity.

Naturally, this gave the opportunity for the fans to further ship out the long-withheld romance between Liz and Ressler. But since things are not going well for Liz, along with the whole Task Force, it seems that the series is not going to that route as per Cinema Blend.

Even so, the fans have remained positive about the possibilities. And since The Blacklist is returning for another season, not to mention, it might even return for a few more installments in the future, then the hopes for a Liz-Ressler relationship are at an all-time high.

In an interview with TV Guide, the series creator, Jon Bokenkamp, revealed that he, himself, is not even sure with what's happening between Liz and Ressler. For all, he knows is that all relationships on The Blacklist are "evolving," including those of the concerned characters.

He also shared that the writers of the series are not even sure of what to do with the situation. And based on his statements, it looks like half of them wants to pursue the romance. On the other hand, half of the block does not want to go to that path.

Accordingly, there is still no assurance whether the Liz-Ressler romance will happen or not. Nevertheless, the possibilities are always there, Bokenkamp added. It's just that they are not sure if it will work out for the show.

The Blacklist Season 7 will premiere on October 4, on NBC.
