Manchester United was not able to ink a deal with a creative midfielder this summer which is something that is already giving Ole Gunnar Solskjaer a headache. The absence of a playmaker that could break the opponent's stubborn defenses was United's waterloo at this point and was recently exposed by the Eagles. According to reports, the Red Devils say, the Old Trafford can resolve this problem if they could sign James Maddison of the Leicester City F.C.
During its last match, Manchester United dominated possession against the Foxes. However, it failed to create sufficient chances in the 2-1 defeat at Old Trafford. Sunday Mirror said one alternative to solve this problem is to get James Maddison on the bandwagon. This season, James Maddison, recorded 2 assists already in the Premier League and he has gone on where he left off last season when he made more chances than anyone else.
His talent and performance in the field did not go unnoticed with reports claiming that United's Ole Gunnar Solskjaer eyeing him as the ideal player to solve the Red Devils' creativity dilemmas in the midfield. James Maddison has evolved and flourished in the Premier League since he arrived at the King Power Stadium and is considered as one of the best young football players in the country. His performance is highly anticipated to be recognized and rewarded with a call from the England team this week for the upcoming Euro 2020 qualifiers.
It can be recalled that James Maddison was linked to the Old Trafford at the beginning of the transfer window this summer. But, the Red Devils prioritized to reinforce their defense and signed Maddison's teammate Harry Maguire for £80m. Leicester City F.C. at the start playing hardball at the beginning and the deal was inked in August after Manchester United later agreed to match the team's £80m price for the player.
It looks like Manchester United is again preparing to raid Leicester City for another star when the transfer window opens on January 2020. And, the Foxes will definitely fight hard to keep one of its key stars. Leicester City thinks that it could build a team that could challenge the top six teams under Brendan Rogers and James Maddison is an integral part of the plan. However, the Foxes' resolve could be tested if the Red Devils come and persuade the playmaker's head like the way they did with Maguire's.
