It's been nearly a month since Amazon released the teaser for Jack Ryan season 2 at the Comic-Con. Since then, fans of the Tom Clancy spy series have been waiting for the show's return date.
There are strong speculations that Jack Ryan season 2 will follow the same release date as the first season. Last year, Amazon Prime debuted all eight episodes on Aug. 31.
According to Screen Rant, Jack Ryan season 2 followed the same production schedule as the first season. Thus, it's highly likely for the new episodes to drop in the late summer or early fall.
Jack Ryan season 2 is shifting its focus on South America as opposed to last year's Middle East spy drama. According to the show's synopsis, the new story will open with CIA analyst Jack Ryan (played by John Krasinski) tracking down a suspicious shipment of guns and weapons in Venezuela, so he'll head down to the region to investigate.
But his investigations will uncover a conspiracy that ties the President of Venezuela. To stop a potential worldwide catastrophe, Jack gets some help from other operatives around the world.
Noomi Repace has been cast as Harriet "Harry" Baumann, a German Spy who rendezvous with Jack in South America. Thomas Wlaschiha will also have a key role as a Max Schenkel, another operative who encounters Jack in Venezuela.
Michael Kelly has joined Jack Ryan season 2 as well as the CIA field officer Mike November. His character will be working next to Jack, as well as Jack's former boss Jim Greer (played by Wendell Pierce).
Last season, Greer was assigned to head a CIA unit in Russia at the end of Jack Ryan season 1. He also invited Jack to join him in Moscow thus fans thought season 2 would be about a Russian mission.
But Greer is seen happily telling Jack that it's nice to see him again in the teaser for Jack Ryan season 2. It's unclear, however, if Greer will also be in every episode just like in the debut season.
Meanwhile, ahead of the premiere of Jack Ryan season 2, Amazon has confirmed that the show will return for season 3 with a new showrunner. Carlton Cuse, who created the Amazon series with Graham Roland, has scaled down his role as showrunner but he will still be the executive producer. The hunt for the new showrunner is actively taking place before the third season begins production.
