BTS had been working nonstop since their debut in 2013. After six long years of hard work, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook were finally given a break that they deserve. The Big Hit Entertainment boy group is currently enjoying a two-month break from the K-pop world.
But just because they are not actively working in the industry at the moment, doesn’t mean that their popularity will suffer or stop making history. J-Hope even managed to make a record while BTS is on hiatus.
Reports revealed that the 25-year-old rapper, songwriter, dancer, and record producer had surpassed two million followers on Spotify. This achievement makes J-Hope the first Korean artist to reach that many followers on the Swedish media-services provider.
What makes it even more impressive is the fact that J-Hope only released seven songs on Spotify including “Hope World,” “Daydream,” and “Airplane.” ARMYs quickly congratulated the BTS star and used the hashtag #Jhope2M_Spotify on social media.
“Besides being the most followed Korean soloist on Spotify Hoseok is now the first to surpass 2M followers, who’s doing it like him? #Jhope2M_Spotify,” one fan wrote on Twitter. “This little boy worked hard and took his time to bring us an album that would be, for so many, a peaceful, hopeful and safe place to be, congratulate him by using #JHOPE2M_Spotify and let him know how much we appreciate his work,” another one shared.
Before reaching the two-million mark on Spotify, J-Hope already made a lot of fans curious and excited when he seemingly hinted that he has plans to release a Hope World 2. When an ARMY shared that they missed J-Hope so much that they kept listening to Hope World, the BTS star responded, “Hang in there!! Everybody will be surprised.”
Meanwhile, this is not the first time that a BTS member makes a record while on hiatus. Jungkook’s solo “Euphoria” was debuted on August 2018. A year later, it is the new titleholder for an incredible Billboard Chart record, previously held by BIGBANG’s Taeyang.
On August 13, while BTS is already enjoying their hiatus, Jungkook’s “Euphoria” made it to the “Billboard World Digital Song Sales” chart for a total of 22 weeks, dethroning Taeyang. During their hiatus, the golden maknae shared a video of himself doing a “Duh” cover of Billie Eilish‘s “Bad Guy” on Twitter and became the most-liked tweet of 2019.
