Do fans know who started the rumors that Teen Titans season 6 is happening? No need to look very far because Greg Cipes, who voices Beast Boy in the animated series, has admitted he might have been the reason why talks about the show's return continue after all these years.
In an interview with CBR, Cipes owned up to the fact that it was he who sparked the rumored return of Teen Titans season 6. He revealed that Cartoon Network received a lot of fan mails about the show's revival with some people pointing out that they heard it from Cipes.
Co-star Scott Menville (as Robin) said that during gigs or conventions, Cipes would usually tell the audience that Teen Titans season 6 was happening. Despite no confirmation from Cartoon Network, the actor stuck by his pronouncements that the series will get a new follow-up whenever he would be in public.
"There was a big gap of time where Teen Titans had ended, and there was no more Titans, and Greg and I had this ongoing video game gig that we would do together," Menville relayed. "We would fly up north, and the car would pick us up, and we'd be driving to the studio. Greg would say to me, 'Brother, Titans is going to come back. It's going to come back, brother.'"
Like Cipes, Khary Payton (as Cyborg) has high hopes for Teen Titans season 6 as well. He said that the possibility of a revival will always be there since the show has a unique dynamic among the characters. So, for as long as this dynamic is present, there could be more stories to be developed from Teen Titans.
Developed by Glen Murakami and David Slack, Teen Titans debuted on the Cartoon Network in 2003. Based on the 1980 characters created by Marv Wolfman and George Pérez for DC Comics, the show centers on a group of superheroes who protect the metropolis and stop the criminals.
But unlike other superhero stories, Teen Titans does not explore the character's alter ego or regular identities. The animated series clicked with the viewers because it was clear about its target audience - young kids who find the Justice League too complicated.
During its run, Teen Titans was named the 83rd most popular animated show of all time. It also received two Annie Awards for Best Storyboarding.
