The CW unveiled the official trailer of Riverdale season 4, and it's full of dark secrets, strange days, and senior moments. When the latest installment arrives next month, Betty's in trouble, Veronica will be facing some sort of scandal, and Jughead might be missing - or perhaps buried alive.
The official trailer of Riverdale season 4 teases on what to expect when the series premieres. It looks like the senior year at Riverdale High isn't going to be fun at all, as teenagers will once again face another mystery - and then solve it.
Riverdale season 4 may focus on Betty's (Lili Reinheart) mysterious attacker. She's going to face even more danger, as the trailer showed a woman walking behind her and eventually hit her on the head with a gun. While the trailer didn't show the attacker, Betty made a lot of enemies in The Farm in season 3. So, someone from The Farm possibly attacked her -- perhaps, Evelyn?
Also, Veronica (Camila Mendes) is facing some sort of scandal in the new season. In the trailer, she said: "I'm no stranger to scandal." Even though Hiram (Mark Consuelos) is now in jail, he's still probably causing trouble for her daughter. So, whatever scandal Veronica is dealing with in the upcoming installment, her father is likely the one to blame.
But, Riverdale season 4 will perhaps focus more on Jughead's (Cole Sprouse) whereabouts. Based on the trailer, he was buried alive and stuck on a coffin-like container; shouting and asking for help. What happened to him? And who did that to him? Was he kidnapped?
We only know season 3 finale ended a crazy cliffhanger, wherein Betty, Veronica, and Archie (KJ Apa) burned Jughead's beanie and promised to "never speak of this again." On the positive note of the trailer, it looks like the main couples -- Betty and Jughead, Veronica and Archie, and Toni (Vanessa Morgan) and Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch) -- are still going strong.
In a related report, the first episode of the new season is also set to be a tribute to Luke Perry (plays Fred Andrews, Archie's dad), who passed away earlier this year. The titled of episode 1 is "In Memoriam," and it will reportedly be a standalone episode -- away from the usual Riverdale drama. Instead, the episode will focus on honoring and paying tribute to the heart and soul of the show.
Riverdale season 4 will premiere on Wednesday, October 9, on The CW.
