If you're a tech junkie, you might have noticed the most interesting coincidence to happen this week. In the days leading to Apple's iPhone 11 event, there's been an increase of Pixel 4 rumors on the web.
Now there are more Pixel 4 units than expected, and they come with unexpected colors to boot. A TV ad for the handset even emerged. But perhaps the most interesting thing that happened this week is the launch date reveal for the upcoming Android phone, leaked on the very same day Apple formally announced the new iPhone 11 series.
Notorious leakster Evan Blass tweeted an image of the Pixel 4 accompanied with an Oct. 15 date. Since the introduction of the very first Pixel phone, Google has held a Pixel event every October, so it's not really a surprise to hear news of an Oct. 15 event date. The Pixel 3 handsets were announced Oct. 9 last year, and by the 18th, they started shipping the phones to customers in the US and the rest of the world.
Let's assume for now that the Pixel 4 launch date will indeed happen on Oct. 15 - preorders should begin soon after the event. By then the iPhone 11 phones would have been selling for almost a month.
What Blass tweeted also confirms some info about the upcoming Pixel 4. Google's new flagship will come without notches like the Pixel 3 XL, but some would say that the Galaxy Note 10 and iPhone 11 still trumps design-wise.
The Pixel 4 features an outdated smartphone design with huge bezels - the top bezel features the phone's most sophisticated components, including a 3D face recognition sensor and a Project Soli radar.
Another leak spotted by Android Central suggests that the Pixel 4 will include a new bright orange color this year, which looks pretty cool. Rumored images appear to show the new color option alongside the large rear camera section on the device.
The bright orange hue sure looks nice if it turns out to be true, and it's one way of deflecting from the off-center camera housing that both Apple and Google appear to be opting in 2019. Google never disappoints when it comes to offering more color options for its Pixel phones alongside the usual white and black choices.
