Manchester United's boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer allegedly told the Red Devils that he prefers a move for James Maddison over Christian Eriksen. Maddison, a 22 years old English footballer made seven goals and seven assists for Leicester City last season during his impressive debut in the Premier League campaign. He is now being considered not only by Manchester United but also by Liverpool and Manchester City.

Reports have it that Manchester United is now closely monitoring James Maddison as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer considers a move in January or next summer. The English playmaker is on the list of homegrown talent the Norwegian coach has recently identified for rebuilding the Old Trafford. Solskjaer is also considering British starlet Jadon Sancho along with Sean Longstaff and Declan Rice as rising domestic talents he thinks he can further develop for the success of Manchester United.

This summer, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer showed interest in James Maddison and has chosen to maintain a watching brief along with other Premier League rivals. On Saturday, the Norwegian coach will get an up-close observation of Maddison's performance when his team, the Red Devils, faces Maddison's team, the Leicester City. The English playmaker has made more changes than any other player in the Premier League in the previous season which has also attracted the interest of other teams including Tottenham and Manchester City.

Manchester United will most likely be open to offers for Cristian Eriksen in the January transfer window or risk losing him on the free transfer window when the season ends. Although both Eriksen and Maddison are on the radar of Solskjaer, the Norwegian has already identified James Maddison as his priority. Manchester Evening News reports that the United boss' drive to boost the proportion of homegrown talents in his roster is the underlying reason behind his preference of James Maddison.

At present, the Old Trafford has three new players acquired during this summer. This includes Daniel James, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, and Harry Maguire. The report includes the popularity of Jesse Lingard and Marcus Rashford in United's squad holds way with international teammates like James Maddison.

Earlier, Maddison shared his ambitions of playing at the highest echelon in the near future. James Maddison's superb performance attracted an inquiry from Ed Woodward last June but his £80million at Leicester City put the Red Devils off a possible contract. Meanwhile, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been assured by the higher-ups at Manchester United that he will be granted more transfer windows to complete his lineup.
